After quitting YANO, Dong Abay went into self-imposed hiatus and stayed in his bedroom for about five years. He came out of "depression" while writing new songs set into poetry. He later called Onie Badiang (bassist of YANO) to borrow an acoustic guitar and jam. Eventually they formed another band- Pan.

Abay got the term "Pan" after reading Tom Robbins' novel Jitterbug Perfume. They released an album entitled "Parnaso Ng Payaso" (BMG Records) in November 2002 and played the local rock circuit with bassist Milo Duane Cruz and drummer Melvin Leyson.

Pan was disbanded on December 16, 2003.
